Pazhampuri – Banana Fritters

One of our favourite tea time snacks.



Pazhampuri – Banana Fritters

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes


  • 3 ripe banana (Nendra pazham preferred)
  • 1 cup maida
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • salt
  • oil
  • Method


  1. Whisk the egg and water together. Add the mixture to maida and sugar and mix well. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Cut bananas in half and then further slice into thinner pieces.
  3. Heat oil in pan.
  4. Dip banana slice in batter and fry till golden brown.
  5. Dry on tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with tea.


You can skip adding the egg and add 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.

More loose batter will give more crispy pazhampuri.
